Now CBFC has become more liberal as without demanding any cuts on kissing scenes, they allowed Befikre, Ok Jannu, Began Jaan to pass.
When Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor’s movie ‘Befikre’, which was fully loaded with hot kissing scenes was released without any cuts, it raised several eyebrows and movie goers were shocked with the decision of Censor board that they did not ask for trimming kissing scenes and bra scenes. CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani had said in an interview that in Befikre, there was no way to cut the kissing scenes without interrupting the flow of story.
Shraddha Kaoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer ‘Ok Jannu’ which has heavy kissing scenes also completed the censor formalities with just four verbal cuts. In the same way, Vidya Balan’s upcoming Begum Jaan, in which she plays a brothel madame, has got no cuts, only the member of censor board asked to mute few cuss words.
Whereas earlier kissing scenes in various movies like Tamasha, Bombay Velvet, Spectre, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil came under the radar of Censor Board and the members of CBFC boards asked for several cuts.
The filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said that he felt that CBFC was more forthcoming now and he appreciated it. He added that it is a welcome move for everybody that CBFC has become so liberal. Trade analyst Amul Mohan said, ”When a big movie comes to complete the censor formalities, the hypocritical side of CBFC comes out whereas for a small movie, they create scenes.
