Central government’s decision to scap old 500 and 1000 notes took heavy toll on Tollywood. Box-office collections in Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have dipped drastically. Filmmakers are fearing to release their upcoming movies in coming weeks. Theaters and multiplexes have gone dry without audiences. People are refraining from spending the money that have on hand. Instead they are saving them for basic necessities.
As per latest update, Allari Naresh’s Intlo Deyyam Nakem Bayam which has to release on November 11 has been postponed. The comedy hero has been suffering without hits of late. He felt it is better to release the film after the currency issue settles down. Release of Naga Chaitanya’s long pending film Saahasam Swaasaga Saagipo is also doubtful, opine film sources.
