Whethe it is because of his busy schedule in directorial ventures or changing tastes of leading Tollywood directors in choosing character actors, Prakash Raj’s career appears to be gradually on the decline in Telugu film industry.
There were times Prakash Raj was an indispensable in Telugu films – whether it is for the role of villain, father or other character.
Directors used to feel that only Prakash Raj could do justice to such characters, which are specifically made for him. And he, too, was doing justice to the roles he was being given.
But, now things have changed over a period of time. It is difficult to recall the film in which Prakash Raj acted or his characters in the recent past.
For the past two years, he has been facing this situation in Telugu film industry. But for Puri Jagannath and Krishna Vamsi, who are his big fans, no other director is evincing interest in taking Prakash Raj in his film. Even directors like Srikanth Addala, who never imagined doing a film without Prakash Raj, is also ignoring him.
So is Trivikram Srinivas who used to create characters exclusively for Prakash Raj. He is getting stiff competition from other character actors like Rao Ramesh, Rajendra Prasad, Jagapathi Babu and Naresh from Telugu film industry, besides Satyaraj from Tamil and Mohan Lal from Malayalam film industries. They are bagging good roles in Tollywood, as a result of which Prakash Raj is virtually fading out in the industry.
