Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao popularly known as N.T.Rama Rao, and even more popular by his initials NTR is a Legend forever.
N.T.Rama Rao was born on 28 May 1923 in Nimmakuru, a small village in Pamarru Mandal of Krishna District. NTR made his Debut as an actor in the Telugu movie “Mana Desam”, directed by L.V. Prasad in 1949.
“Maya Bazaar” was his first mythological film released in 1957, in which he portrayed as Lord Krishna. His film “Lava Kusa” in which he starred as Lord Rama collected 10 million in 1963. He became well known for his portrayals of Hindu deities, especially Rama and Krishna, roles which have made him a “Messiah of the Masses”.
He also played variety of roles of Ramayana and Mahabharatha characters, such as Ravana, Bheeshma, Arjuna, Karna and Duryodhana. These mythological roles catapulted him to the top of Telugu film stardom and soon he achieved a Demi-god status in Andhra Pradesh.
In his later career, he began to play roles of a poor heroic young man fighting against the existing system. These films appealed to the sentiments of the common man.
Today, on the occasion of this legend’s Birth Anniversary, all the Telugu people are paying whole-hearted Tribute to NTR.
